Avoid Being Scammed
Our Top 5 Guiding Principles to reduce your risk of being scammed:
1. Stop & Think - Delete any unsolicited or unexpected Message or Email; just put Down the Phone...do not give away any Personal Information (known as 'Phishing')
2. Slow Down - Do not feel Pressured into acting quickly or sharing your personal information; Do Nothing and seek the advice of Family or Trusted Friend...scammers try to create a compelling event in order for you to act quickly
3. No Software Downloads - NEVER ever allow people claiming to offer Tech Support to download Remote Access software - such as AnyDesk - to your Device e.g. Laptop, Mobile, Tablet...this gives scammers exactly what they need; access to control your device and have visibility of your screen. This is one reason why Scam phone calls use your Landline - so that they can use your mobile to see open Apps, such as those for Banking & Shopping
4. Increase Security - Enable free 2-Factor Authentication (2-FA) on your Accounts when it's available e.g. GMail, Microsoft, Amazon, eBay, FaceBook, BT etc...doing this makes it far more difficult for someone to gain access to your Account(s)
5. Invest time - getting savvy through Education and Training. Recommended resources include:
