Windows 10 Is Doomed!

Windows 10 is still being run on 64% of PC's globally;  that's approximately 700 Million devices.

Microsoft's W10 Position & Latest Statement

- Microsoft officially announced Windows 10 support ends 14th October 2025

- After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide free Software Updates, Technical Assistance, or Security Fixes for Windows 10. This means that Windows 10 devices will continue to function, but they will not receive crucial Security Patches or Feature Updates

- For people who need to continue using Windows 10 after the end of support date, Microsoft will offer a paid-for Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme. This programme will provide critical and important security updates through an annual $30 USD Subscription Service

- Microsoft have recently recommended buying a new PC if you're running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 8.1.  The issue is that in under 12 months, W10 will be added to that List.  Surely Microsoft aren't recommending that all W10 users buy a new PC too? 700 Million new PC's ?

Do You Subscribe to Microsoft 365 ?

- If you're a Microsoft 365 Subscriber, the Extended Security Updates for Windows 10 will be provided at no additional cost for the first year; starting 14th October, 2025

What Are My Options?

1.  Keep your existing W11 compatible computer;  Upgrade to Windows 11 now 

2. Keep your existing W11 compatible computer;  Upgrade to Windows 11 later

3. Use Rufus as a work-around to install W11 on your existing PC;  this option when running Microsoft's PC Health Check App claims your PC can't be upgraded to W11

4. Buy a brand new computer that comes with Windows 11

5. Buy a refurbished computer that can run/runs Windows 11

6. Ditch Windows for Apple e.g. MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Pro

7. Ditch Windows for ChromeOS (Google's PC operating system), running on your existing PC or a new computer

8. Ditch Windows for a Linux Distribution e.g. MINT

9. Or keep using W10 combined with the Extended Security Updates Programme
