Avoid Windows 11 - 24H2 !

Microsoft has started to force Windows 11 users to upgrade to version 24H2 - this despite several bugs that are causing serious problems:

 - Having axed support for version 22H2, Microsoft had little choice but to update computers running it to 24H2

- This will make those PCs safer, but people should be prepared for a host of problems.  If you run 23H2, HTS advises pausing the update for the full five weeks to give Microsoft more time to fix any new bugs that emerge

- The update, which can take over one hour to install, is compulsory

- You can pause for a maximum of five weeks, after which you'll have to install the update

- Version 24H2, which was released on 1 October '25 as the second major update of 2024, added several useful features to Windows 11, including new battery-saving controls and Bluetooth LE audio for hearing aids

- But users have reported many problems, such as:

- Disk Cleanup misreporting how much data can be deleted

- Incompatible Software Drivers causing the 'Blue Screen of Death'

- Microsoft responded in October by pausing the automatic installation of 24H2, but has now decided to resume it.  It will aim to fix new problems as new users report them.
